The observatory dome was preassembled in yet another garage bay. This allows proper fitup of the dome and shutter segments, installation of hardware, and verification of proper shutter operation in a wind-free environment where everything is easy to reach. The wooden supports are needed because the front and rear shutter segments extend below the dome base.
